Dear Mr. Lundy:

I was pleased to learn that, after all these years, someone has finally taken on the task of writing a history of the 44th Bomb Group. And what a monumental research job that must have been!

The tenure of my crew and I with the 44th (66th Squadron) was rather brief. We joined the group just after the Ploesti mission, being transferred over from the 93rd Bomb Group and left (involuntarily!) on 1 October 1943, the Wiener Neustadt Mission. In between those dates, of course, we spent considerable time traveling, first from Benghasi to Shipdham, then from Shipdham to Tunis.

Very truly yours,

Dick Bridges
